Education vis-à-vis Man’s Nature

During my MA class, a reporter was discussing about education vis-à-vis man’s nature and I was quite intrigued about the topic. After the discussion, we were given homework, we were asked to write our insight about the said report. And now, I just couldn’t help it. I wanted to share what I’ve written there.

So, here it is... Enjoy

According to John Locke we are born in the world with a clean slate and because of this our intentions are good. I believe in it and I believe in Jean Jacques-Rousseau’s view of education in relation to man’s nature that children are naturally good. But sad to say, the driving force of humanity is very strong that the views of our children are tinged and causes them to sway away from the path of goodness.

So, as teachers, we should always put it in our hearts and minds that in school we are their parents not because they stay longer with us but because we care for them and we love them. As responsible second parents, it is in our hands to educate them properly, care for them, and nurture them especially in character and conscience to uphold their moral values. It is our responsibility to harness their positive nature. The responsibilities maybe too big for us when we think about it, there will be future leaders, doctors, nurses, engineers, teachers in those children we are teaching. We teachers, prepare them for the world.

That's all for now. Good evening everyone!:)
